Ok, so this has been bugging me for a while... on EBAY there is a company by the name of Mel-Co which, in addition to many other items, auctions SCADS of store returned husky 55s and 350s, some of which run but most of which are mechanically distressed. Most of these saws are spotless (there are exceptions). What is the deal? Do these saws REALLY have this kind of failure rate? I've been thinking about getting a Rancher (the 55), but this phenomenon has me downright spooked about the reliability of these saws.

While I'm at it, has anyone noticed their tendency to auction an almost complete saw (which is magically missing a cover) and then sell the cover in another auction? I understand that as the owners of the saw they can do what they want but I have stayed away from their actions because it seems so... I don't know.. manipulative. Thoughts?

Well some of those saws are returned because the owner bought it, ran straight gas in it, and seized it. the cover thing is a strange one to me too.

I've gotten 3 saws from that seller. A 350 that had never seen gas or oil, but had a damaged rear handle, A 350 with a pin hole in the fuel line and a 55 with a very poorly adjusted carb, latter 2 with one tank of gas thru em(maybe). All three saws were immaculate, but they were also missing a couple of covers each. You could get these saws pretty cheap at one time from this seller, but I've seen as the word gets out people are paying to much for them now or at least more than I want to spend.
