O.K. saw nerds, I need your help.

Yesterday my Husky 350 made a rattle so I shut it off and when I got home I took the top cover off and this fell out.

What is it? Can I fix it? Should I bring it to the shop?

Another thing, has anyone had problems with the off switch on 338's, mine is fairly new and doesn't shut off.
The guy at the saw shop (john deere dealer) said the switch is a "bear" to get to but it just had some saw dust an d bar oil in it. Well it still don't shut off with out chokeing it.
Any suggestions, besides an 020.

The pic could be of the inside of a plastic limiter cap if it is small and just rolled steel, that was over the outside of one of the carb adjust screws.
If it is larger than that, then it is likely a hinge pin for a trigger or throttle
piece. On the kill switch, you might follow the wire to ground and the coil
and make sure it has not been disconnected.

The pin is solid, pretty stout. About 1 and 3/8 in long.

As for the off switch on the 338 it does shut off if I leave it in the off position for a while an hold it down hard, not condusive for climbing.

Thanks for the respone.

I am not sure, but I do not think it has a throttle pin, atleast not one that can be ordered seperately.
When looking at the second pic, it seems too big in comparison to the saw...
Really weird...
Does the saw work ok, is there anything different as RPM, stabilety....

Mange, the saw seems alright but now since the throttle is mentioned it doesn't seem to run until I hold the throttle further. That could be phycological though.

The saw still ran fine but I knew better than to keep running it untill I found the rattle.

The pin comes with the tank but they give a number for the pin only #7201 825 20.

OK, it culd very well be the throttle pin.

Let's think about this.

If it is the throttle pin, and is thru the handle holding the trigger, it needed to go out from the handle left or right side, then find a way in under the cover.

If it was a bit of the linkage it would not run properly, no full throttle etc.

Has the starter been removed?

Could this peace be from something other than the saw? Caught by the flywheel and tossed up under the cover as it turned?

When looking at the second pic it seems to be pretty big....

Mange, you are right. The pin has to come off and fall on the ground not under the cover,it would be almost impossible.I didnt remember he says he found it under the top cover.

Yes the saw rattling, like something was being tossed around inside. I took the cover off, tipped the saw upside down and it fell out.

Could've beed something inside the bucket truck that fell in the saw, just wondering if anyone recognized it.

here's a possiblity.....do you have ms200's on the truck also? when you take the clutch cover off of a ms 200 there is a pin like that that lines up the cover on the jug. ofter a while they loosen up and fall out when you take the clutch cover off to change a chain. that is what it looks like ....how it got in your saw is another story. i had one roll around in my 020t once and it cracked a few fins off the fly wheel crunch crunch.

Never been near a stihl. But it was hitting the fins an the fly wheel thats why I put it down. Tommarow I'll dig out my owners manuel if I can find it, see if I see the part anywere, I doubt it. Otherwise I'll just keep cuttin' away until.....

Thanks

Trig as far as I can tell that's a foreign object. I've got a 350 half apart and I haven't seen anything that looks similar. 1 3/8" long would be too long for anything like a trigger pin and it's thickness rules out the carb linkage. fwiw
