I'm confused. There are two different mufflers for the 372 and 385. One with the slot-like outlet on top and one with a tube-like outlet in the upper left corner - the latter is default where I live.
Now, I came across a thread, in either this forum or at forestforum, where it was discouraged to try to modify a muffler of this type due to its bad interior design as opposed to the muffler with the outlet on top. So all of you who has "been there" and "done that", please help me out. Are ther any interior diffrences between the two? Should I modify mine in a different way?

In need for knowledge,

Ola

Hi Ola
All of the 372,385 mufflers that we have in the states use the top outlet. The type that you described does not meet our EPA standards. The mufflers that we get for those two saws have no internal baffles at all, basically a hollow can. Since I have never looked inside of the muffler type that you have, I need some information before I can recommend any mods.
Will you please remove the muffler from the saw, look inside of it through the exhaust port and tell us if it has any baffles or pipes inside.

Looking from the front, there is a screen/wall (presumebly the baffle you speak of) approximately an inch back. The tube runs along this screen from left (outlet side) all the way to the right where I think there's a slot/gap in the baffle, allowing the exhaust-gases to pass.

Hope you find this info a bit more nourishing,

Ola
