I'm looking for starter recoil assembly and clutch cover with chain brake for 285 Husky.I don't have parts list but if some one knows :) and I'm sure many
of you guys do,would you let me know if 380 or 480 recoil assembly fit my saw? Thanks in advance.
Bernard

The 285 is the forerunner to the 2100. Depending on what flywheel you have, a starter from a 285, 298, 2100 or 2101 will fit.

My flywheel has two dawgs and I thought all 2100s have three of them.
Can somebody experienced help out or let me know the right part No.,so I can try to cross reference it?Appreciate any help!

Hello there and welcome. 285's and 298's each use two dogs. Since the flywheels are completely different, I don't think they would interchange, but I've never tried it. 2100's and 2101's use the three dog flywheel and pawl so they wouldn't fit your saw. The pawl you need for the 285 is part number 50 14 024 02. The rest of the starter parts may interchange with the 2100 but I'm not positve. You might be able to find something on ebay or perhaps some one here has one for sale. Good luck. John
