i would like to sell what i think is a husqvarna 298 i have 2 of them plus a parts one. i am not sure at all if it is really a 298 2100 or 2101. but from pictures i found it looks like a 298.

i got these in a trade.

none of them are seized. they all turn freely. if anyone can identify these for me i would really apreciate it.

i will ship them anywhere in the world as long as buyer pays actual shipping costs. i have more pictures and i can remove covers to show the inside if anyone wants to see deeper into them.

thanks for your time and help.

waiting on offers.

I believe you might have a 280cd, 380cd, or 480cd. It has the one piece top and the bigger 85-99 cc saws had the two piece top. I also see black that used to be on the handle originally I couldn’t find a perfect example of that but the 280 and 380 had black rear handles.

If anyone knew what it was it would probably be @SawTroll

From what I can see you are right that this isn't one of the 99 (or 85) cc saws, and certainly not a 298 - it is a saw from the "180-family".

I don't remember the details of the rear handle etc. variants of those right now, and can't say if it is a "S" or a "CD" model. From what I do recall I agree that it most likely is a 280 or 380 though.

The 180, 280, 380 and 480 were 76.5cc, but there also were smaller ones in the "family".

A good starting point for a closer ID would be to measure the bore of the cylinder.

Yep, a dead giveaway that these are not a 298, 2100, or 2101 is the one piece cylinder shroud on them. There are some similarities and cross use of parts between the 480 and the bigger series saws like parts of the recoil but otherwise more differences.

I believe the 180/280/380/480/285 are from the same family. I’m not too sure about the 1100/298/2100/2101. The 2100/2101 had the manual pump assist for longer bars besides the auto bar oil pump.

One looks like a 480 with the metal handle but it’s a very short hand safety lever.
The other one could be a 180/280/380 anyone’s guess.

So how many saws total.? 1 runs? The other is seized? $$?
