Husqvarna 346 xp??????

Why did they get rid of it and what did they replace it with?

Replaced it with the 550xp, which is now replaced by the 550xp Mark 2. Not exactly sure what year.

They have unsuccessfully tried to replace it. Perhaps twice.

Dolmar 5105 H that I purchased last yr is equal to my 346 xp in cutting ability and still produced . The reason it was discontinued was due to epa compliance issues initially . The 550 Mk I & Mk II were replacement models which have received varing acceptance to date lol.

545/550 mk1 was a proper successor to the 346 in terms of handling. No experience with mk2.

5100/5105 cuts with it in terms of production, if not character, but doesn’t handle like it.

Yes , the 5105 is actually smoother than my 346 xp . I know what you mean about the handling of the 346 xp though , it is quite balanced in overall performance in or out of the cut.

346 is the best saw ever made. It’s a shame they had to do away with it.
