My Husqvarna 359 that I bought new in 2007 has been a great saw.

However just this week when I started it over several days of work, it is acting funny.

It almost always starts with 2 pulls, but for some reason the past few days when I take the choke off and give it some throttle, it bogs down and won't rev up. If I give it throttle a few times it will then rev up and be fine for the rest of the day and restart just fine.

Gas is fresh. I have only ever used the non-oxy/ethanol free gas and quality oil.

The temps were around 15F, and the saw was out about 15-20 minutes in that temp before start, and the saw was sitting in a bin on the tracksled traveling through the woods at about a 45 degree angle.

Also on inspection I notice I have lost a muffler screw.

All these years I have never had this problem. Any thoughts?

Thanks.

Might just be telling you it's due a service... carb kit, fuel & air filter, spark plug, & tune.
If it doesn't come right after that start digging deeper.
If it has the auto-decomp some came out with remove that asap too

Thanks guys

That is very possible. I have always been careful with this saw, but haven't done any of that. It has always just run so great, so I figured if its not broke don't fix it. Awful. :)
At 18 years, it might need a carburetor kit, etc.

It may be as simple as opening the "L" adjustment screw a fraction of a turn. Sounds like it is not getting adequate fuel when accelerating.

I will look I to getting a carb kit. At one point last year it was leaking a little gas when it was on its side felling trees. That only lasted a day and went away. Seemed a bit odd, but the saw kept running great.

Wonder if there is a small hole in the fuel line, and could that cause this?

Thanks again.

Cutting some large Ash with her this week. Good saw, but I really need to get a bigger saw. Can't decide between a 372 XP OE or a 390XP. Would also like to be able to mill some of this Ash into lumber, and while the 359 is pretty strong, I don't thing she will be up for that.IMG_20250223_164422_015_1.jpg

The aftermarket non cat mufflers are on amazon.
My buddies 359 has been running like yours for years, with the limiters in place it's full rich on the low but needs a little more fuel yet, he just deals with it but it drives me nuts. On the flip side the 359 I ported for him is a little rich and will only idle for a about minute when hot. I need to adjust both of his saws one of these days but he's not worried about it lol.
You will need to pull the limiters and adjust the carb after the muffler swap.

Isn’t the 359 known for the band around intake boot cracking?
Might be something to check….
