Hey Guys!

Just checking to see who has the best deals on the Husky 3120 and 395XP. Want complete saw...not just powerhead.

Thanks
Dustin

Where are you going to bring the saw if it has problem under warrantee? To your "local" dealer?.....If I was your local dealer you'd wait 'til hell froze over to get warrantee from me. Why do you assume that the local won't do right by you? Isn't it nice having him there? Why not show him some support? You'll miss him when he's gone! I know I just opened a can of worms but I don't care. If internet deals keep undercutting the servicing dealers then there will be NO SERVICING DEALERS!!!!!!!!

It's hard to argue with Sedan's point for saws that will stay stock. I'd sure hate to see the good local Husky and Stihl dealers in my area go belly up. If you want to modify the saw right from the getgo, thus void the warranty, internet deals are the way to go for sure. Of course, if you needed a part in a hurry and there was no one left to go to locally, what then? I've heard it said that Ebay has put more surplus and used dealers (of just about any product you can think of) out of business than any internet option thus far.

to some degree i have to agree with doug and sedan, i have a REALLY good stihl dealer but for husky????? everyone that i have called around my house wants $150 over husky's msrp!!!!! so i did buy my new 346xp online, i really would have prefered to purchase from a local dealer but i refuse to pay that kind of price. when ever possible i will buy from the little man even if it is a few dollars more.....but not $150 thats just too much:(

I philosophically have to agree with our resident Mopar man, but also see my post on Dennis's 2186 Jonsered thread.

My local Jonsered guy doesn't mind at all that I own two saws purchased over the net. He knows I get impatient waiting for supplies, and see him for stuff like chains, sprockets, etc. as well as all the other lawn and garden stuff I need. In fact, I think he's been rethinking his entire business philosophy based on the reality of internet sales...compete head-on with the net and box store; make your real money doing very well the things they won't or can't...service and parts, as well as high-end stuff for the guy that has had enough of Poulan and Murray.

Example: 2150 Jon $300; 2149 Jon;$350. I can beat that price by (maybe) $10 over the net, what I may save on sales tax gets eaten up by shipping, there's no goodie package and I cant take it home today. Saturday morning, and I've just rocked a chain; I have no problem paying $17 for a new one plus $3.50 to dress the rocked out one, but I would have a problem getting that on the 'net. While I'm there I better get some oil and maybe a new lawnmower blade...

absolutely right - and the ones that have a problem with where I may decide to spend my hard earned money can go bankrupt for all I care. Supply and demand. A good saw shop will stay in business. My husky dealer does not give a ???? where I got my saw - really! Like said they make money on you having it right now etc...

It always cracks me up how some dealers are so ready to criticize on internet sales etc., instead of improving their own business thinking and flexibility. Oh well.

Here's what one of my local guys did

He started his own web site.

http://www.mayberrys.com

He doesn't stock Husky and I won't hold it against him. But he said he had to change his ways. He did. He now spends about 5 hours a day just getting orders prepared for shipping.

or madsens for perhaps the first example - or baileys...all these saw shops have adapted and GROWN as a business since embracing a little wider business vision than a some old barn window redneck store that refuses to work on equipment that was not bought overpriced from them. Good riddance.

My local dealer sells 3120's for $1165.00 with a 24" to 32" bar, and only when he has them in stock, which is rarely. I got my 3120 from him as trade for a camera lens that cost me less than $75.00 years ago, but it turned out that it was a rare collector's item. The saw I bought was a factory new 1999 unit, but had been sitting there in the showroom for some time because a guy who was harvesting cypress trees in Africa only needed two of the three he had originally ordered. 385's are the biggest in stock units he sells. My local Stihl dealer only stocks up to 044's.

Husky....Deals

Well I think I got everybodies input on that. I guess I mis-spoke but some of you I think understood what I was looking for.

I just want to know where I can get the best priced saw.

For example: My friend bought a sthil 088 for 1400 and another guy bought the same saw for 900.

That is what I am after.

Thanks guys I appreciate all your input.

CCD stocks `em both, what size bar and what pitch chain do you want? BTW, on a daily basis it is hard to beat Rupedoggy`s price for the 3120 delivered or Gypo`s price of $999 for an 088. Russ

Hi Russ, thanks for the nice referal with regards to the 088. I have 5 of them right now, but havent taken the time to market them. Such is the life of a timber tramp. They come with a 20" bar and a free 25' roll of chain.
Not to beat up on the new up start or casual user, but its amazing how some people want an ironclad gaurantee on everything they purchase including life itself. The learning curve is big with saws and its not fair to a dealer to be a pain in the ass for simple things life chain throws, pinched bars, flooded saws, fouled plugs, dull chain.... and the list goes on and on.
Its fun to share our knowledge and learn from others, but its also fun to be independant and go it alone without expecting a safety net every time we make a move, good or bad.
I guess what I am trying to say is we are either built for what we do or we are not.
So have fun, learn what you can and stand alone when if it feels right, just roll with the punches and get right back up as fast as you can.
I guess I take the booby prize for not staying on topic with my little bit of Big Brother advice.
Knock on Wood,
And send me some Lumber.
