I'm working on a buddy's saw that he lent out and came back not running and it won't start .
I quickly found it had poor compression so I took it apart and found the ring frozen in the piston .
It's very black..I'd assume carbon and heat did this saw in .
What's your thoughts ?
I'm thinking I could clean both the p/c up and throw a new Caber on it and see what happens .
There's very lite carbon scoring that I think I can clean off .
Here's a pic of the piston ...
Thanks....ErnieKIMG1643.JPG

dead gas, especially ethanol, can and will cause that as well.It becomes more common as ethanol is the thing you can buy .

What's the cylinder look like? I'd imagine it was running lean or dull chain.
