Bought this saw used ,but looks in good condition, maybe paint scraped off here and there and starts fine but after a preacher friend borrowed it ,he said the chain came off. In taking the sprocket cover off the spring loaded large thin ring had a slight burr or a inch cut but i ground it smooth with a small round stone. I took the spring out and can't get it back.It works in conjunction with the front guard, I need to know where I can buy a tool to
get it back in and also a place to buy parts for it.Any info will be appreciated.
The numbers on it are 965 03 02-00 so what year is it?

Baileys.com would be your best bet. They are the largest Husky dealer in the country as far as I know. Try their website. Their phone number is listed on their site so givem a call. Matter of fact just go to the top of this page and click on their logo..

That's the product id code but it doesn't tell model year. Right below that number on id plate there is a serial number that will be 2 digits followed by a space and 7 more for 9 in total. for instance if it was 04 1006545. That would be a 2004 model etc.

As far as i know, there is no tool for that. And its hard to explain how to put the spring back.Lets say, first "insert" the spring on the black plastic thing that hold it.Then use a flat screwdriver large enough .Put the screwdriver at the end of the spring slot in the chain guard and force the spring to go in the"spring groove" using your thumb to push it.Its easier to do than explain.Be careful, the spring could pop off .See the image, you wil see where to install the screwdriver.

Got it together.

Thanks all for the help ,after the spring flying around the garage three times and my wife dragging a large magnet in the gravel & grass she found it .Although I have to give "Octane" a A plus .You guys make this a great site.

There is a tool that Husky makes that looks sort of like a tuning-fork with two prongs that is perfect for this job. Aren't springs fun!

On this link if you page down a few pages to the tools you will see it. It is #6.
