I have a 2000 GMC 1 ton with a dump box on it. it is a single ram dump with a small hydraulic pump on it. when i was dumping the pump would not quit running even after the ram was maxed out and i couldn't get the ram down. i turned off the truck and the pump was still running and eventually killed the truck battery. i cut the power to the pump and used the relief valve to lower the dump. I changed the Solinoid thinking it was sticking open and it worked a few times then it all happened all over again. So the next time i changed the switch and changed the Solinoid again. it worked perfect a few times and then It then began to really struggle to lift the box even though it was empty. There is lots of hydraulic fluid in the resivoir. I inspected the power cable and it does seem to be repaired with electrical tape many of times. Could the power cable be grounding out so the solinoid wont shut off, or grounding out now so I dont have enough current to run the pump? All my connections are clean, the switch is good and the solonoid is in good condition so what is my next step to diagnose this problem so i can get back to work?
