Anyone out there near Eastern Kansas, that's certified? I can't even find anywhere to take the cert. test that isn't 2-3 states away. I'm lookin for sombody who's experinced to give some pointers, or has a service I could assist for the expereince. If nearby. I'm about 25 min from KS/MO border on Hwy 54

Check with one of your local college campuses. Some of them have continuing education programs. Amarillo, Texas has a college by the name of, ironically, Amarillo College or AC. They routinely do courses for Irrigator license and arborist cert. Also, check the web site for any colleges in your area, most will have a schedule for upcoming continuing education courses and usually provide phone numbers for more info.

Good luck

Hello cmetalbend, I am in lawrence kansas, I am not cert. myself but would like to sometime. but I have been in the tree industry for 14 years self tought to climb and working for another tree service. The Kansas forest service does a certification out of Manhattan one time a year i think. There website could give you more info. Good luck

Hey, thanks for all the useful info. I thought of the college's but havent taken the time to investigate. Still waitin on some better equipment to arrive. Once that happens, I've got a few basic removals to do, then maybe some more in depth-training.

Check with Pittsburg U, you can't be that far from them, it's a lead. I also know once a year they have training in Manhattan, but it's a quick and dirty deal, you need to study beore hand. I forget now, but I know you can get the study guides online from some stores, I want to say Bailey's, but I would think certainly Sherrill would have them.
Know the bark and leaves of trees in the area, that is what they will test on. Know you're cuts and knots and be ready to back any decesion you have made 100%. I need to take it, but these are things I have learned from those that have. STUDY, STUDY then STUDY some more!!!

PSU is likely the best bet, Missouri Southern possibly also. The wife's going to PSU next year Maybe I can hitch a ride. And maybe not.:chainsaw:
