a friend brought me a 026 and this, I fixed the 026 for him and he gave me the other. It runs but breaks up at WOT.

Dolmar 5100s? - Maybe a Wildthing. You know a well-built Wild thing can run with the best machines out there. You just gotta find a good one. I'm not partial to any maufacturer, ANY saw will cut like mad and last for years if you treat it right.
Does it have winter grade bar oil in it? I bet a dealer could tell you. Not a mere employee, but a true dealer. It does need bigger "dawgs" (GOD I hate that "spelling"!!!) and a full-wrap front handle. Can you tell what mix it has?

Or......056. I don't know if the 056 ever had that style hand guard or the Stihl Log logo, but they're the same family of saw.

Oh dear...
Go on Troutfisher - humour me and give us a shot of the clutch side with the cover off - as recently posted, I reckon if the plate is held on by the bar studs then it is 045, if there is a small screw holding it on, then 056. There is a difference in casing. All 056 I have met will take a rim sprocket, but even the latest 045 will not without the rim being removed from the back of the oil pump drive gear. I haven't taken the time to work out exactly why. Doubtless CB can help.

Huge pics,lolol. Not sure what that saw is now, he's right about the plate on the bar studs, the 056 I gave away had a screw in the center of it so it may be a 045 after all, my goodness its gonna snow elbow deep now,:hmm3grin2orange: :hmm3grin2orange:
