Dear AS community

I would like to introduce to you my newest aquisition.

Solo 644

The smallest of the professional models of Solo (the little brother of the 651)

specs:
44,3ccm, 2,6kW/3,53PS/hp, 38cm/15inch bar&chain, .325,
5,2kg engine weight, full magnesium crankcase
Carlton chain

The saw should be in the Husqvarna 353, Stihl 260 and Dolmar 4600 class.

I got it at a fantastic price at a sell off after a trade fair. Only started for demonstration purposes and it has a red chain cover instead of the new silver one (why is everyone now jumping onto the silver color train?). The bottom is also scratched with a few paint flakes missing.
As some of AS might know my former motto was one saw is enough!, I believe the new motto is two saws are enough!

I have had the saw now for about 3 months/5 refills so I believe that the saw has not been properly broken in yet. But I would like to share my experience sofar.

My experience sofar has been my Stihl MS 180 (I love that saw!), an old Mac with 1,1hp, a Stihl Contra & 07, a Husqvarna e-chainsaw 1800 watt and some other electric chainsaws of other manufacturers. I cut about 6-10 chord/year of mixed wood.

I am no pro but I have been spoiled by some great Stihl hardware, so I was very exited to try out a new saw.

As far as I can say is that it starts very well on the 4-5th pull cold (winter here in Austria and the saw stays in the woodshed). It has incorperated in the choke lever the half gas setting so no other levers to fool around with. Warm it starts on 1-2nd pull every time.... sofar(hope it stays like that). And no decomp like on the larger modells.

I would like to show two videos of the saw, once in a cross cut, once in a length cut of the wood, since I believe that's what everybody really wants to see. The wood is dry chestnut 24inch wide. And yes I like doing a length cut once in a while since you get fantastic noodles that are for me the best firestarting materials. Just take a small handfull and you have the best kindling.

I'm sorry the video is a little dark since it was in the evening, but you get the idea.

The chain is Carlton which I file by hand.

I forgot I believe this model is not sold in the USA.

Sleeper, that looked like work. Reminds me of the time I cut a 23" cookie with my PS-510.

That sure was work! Getting the piece out of my car was already a connan'ian achievement. I just let it fall onto the driveway and it made a dent into the tar! :jawdrop:
But the wood was for free and as we all know the best wood is free wood!

greetings
