Yellow wood Tree?? Bark looks right, but it doesn't look yellow enough. Not being a smartass, that's an actual tree. I got one last year, and the wood was much more yellow.
Kind of looks like bitternut hickory

I wish I could tell you from experience, but the word around here is it is excellent firewood, some like it better than oak. I am supposed to have access to some as early as this weekend.
On Chimney sweep it is rated between Red Oak and Sugar Maple.
I'd say it is probably a drier tree than oak as the stuff I cut was heavy but definitely less than green oak.

Bitternut Hickory is great firewood.
I have three nice trees of it in my front "decorative" forest. I wont cut them though.
It's hard, dense wood and will be throwing lots of heat for you.

It sure could be TOH too by the google pics, I have never dealt with that but heard it is junk.

Yup, it's TOH. I was given a bunch of it, and your pics are a dead ringer for what I have. I would not go far to cut it(like 10' or so!), but in my case, it also came with a big pile of mulberry, and it was take it all or none...
That leaf shown looks to be just a vine growing up the tree. The tree's actual leaf in the background looks a little like willow or elm:

Is TOH kin to Mamosa? It looks and describes similar. I cut a big mamosa in my yard and haven't found a use for it yet. I don't think it will make it to my wood stove.
