Stihl 064 with 066 carb & muffler

Put new PC on the 064 last night

Carb needs work, removed compensator off of a Warblo WJ69, (066 carb)
replaced it with the metal plate off the 064 carb so I could use
the 064 air filter.......So can 066 carb hurt my 064 in any long term way?
I set it at 12500 rpm, one manual says 12000 another 13000?
I cut some cookies, I'm impressed to say the least :)

064 muffler would not fit after putting the new PC kit.
Looks like they made the exhaust port longer on the new PC kit. But the
muffler off the 066 fit, (its shorter) Now a 066 DP cover
will fit. It has been said the DP cover will give about .5 hp more
on a 066............yes more HP is good but in the long term, you think
the extra HP will hurt the longevity of the 064 (crankshaft)

Its runing pertty good with up side down Bump :)
PS I bought 2 bump gasket just in case.............

with a DP muffler cover your doing the saw a favor and getting more heat out of it. no worries on the crank unless you abuse the holy %$# out of the saw. even woods ported i have several customers with 064s that love them and have not had any problems. you have no worries man!

Yep... Everything you discovered is normal! The old muffer is a pain but as you found out, the DP cover is a plus.. Don't sweat the carb... If it tunes then all is fine..

064 is running good...........but the AV mount, top right is bad
Need to take tank off to replace, If going to that much trouble

I have a late model 066 tank, will it fit the 064?

If not will the 066 air box fit the 064?

I can pull all of this stuff apart and find out........but it will be
a lot easier if you guys can tell me. :)

Yes... and no....

You may have to change your intake boot and a couple of small parts if you change out the tank... it all depends on which tank you currently have..

I'd leave the tank on... Won't cut any better with the newer "see though" tank. Changing the mount only takes about 15 minutes... Don't be a whimp - just do it!;)

Yes I'm beaning a whimp.............but I sure would like the better air filter system :D
Lake you'r 15 min job will be a 2 hour job for ME!

You can have the HD system without changing the tank! you'll need a new filter backing plate etc.. but...

hey, even you can do it in 30 minutes.. . I'm going to grab a six pack - let's see how many I get through before you're done :).

Now that I could do in 30........but the 066 backing plate won't fit
I tried............must be another one then, correct?

Don't you have an IPL?

1122 120 3411 - about $26 brand spanking new...

You'll also need the HD air box..

Yes, but in the pic it did'nt look like it would fit........I will get one on order
I'm going to go tear it apart :biggrinbounce2:

Thanks,

To be continued ;)

Barb! you need to bake some more BREAD!

Heck, I need another 6 pack to reset the time...:biggrinbounce2:

Stop the watch!......I went out and looked..........I would need more
than just the backing plate........would also need at least the filter cover
also..............066 cover will not work, even with new filter backing plate,
switch would be in the way of the air filter cover.

Barb! you can stop making the bread for now :hmm3grin2orange:

Well, if you would have told me just to change the whole #!$% tank
and not insinuated, me beaning a WIMP!.......... I could have been at
least 10% of the way done with the switch! (its cold in the saw shed)

Lake, Inquiring minds (mine) what to know.
After how many 6 or 5 packs, should we quit taking you'r advice? :)

one or two.. depending on the quality...

I'd just leave the 064 tank and fix the filter stuff. Buy used.. sell your old junk... and keep the 066 tank for you next 066 project... You know you'll build one.. soon....:D

What was that question you were looking for me to answer?
