So, a year or two ago I was reading this forum and strongly looking at the possibility of running a chainsaw mill. I planned on getting the Granberg Alaskan mill for my 660. Well, things kind of got busy and I somewhat forgot about milling, UNTIL YESTERDAY.

I was cruising my local CL ads and came across a deal I couldn't turn down. Called the guy up and within an hour I had the stuff in my truck and was headed home.

Here's my score, all of it for just $40.

I'm not sure what brand mill it is, I didn't have any time to really check it out last night. Anyways, it'll get me started and give me a taste of what I've been missing. As for the chains, same thing. I'm not sure if they're ground for milling or what. I'll get a better look tonight.

Nice deal, IDK how some of you guys stumble across these deals. I've never seen anything like this, must be my area. Normally end up seeing just your Stihl bar in that shape for $40. LOL

I'm usually right there with you pete. Once in a while I find something, but the last good score I had was probably 4 years ago.

I didn't get a chance to look at the chains last night, but the mill seems it's a perfect size to get started. Very sturdy, too. I'm anxious to bolt it up and play in some pine I have laying down.

That's def a huge "you suck" :D Awesome score enjoy man. I'm going to be running the same set up just need to get the supplies for drying correctly.

The mill appears to be a home built, and that's not bad. You certainly have some bar length options with associated chains which I'm guessing are milling style chains. If you did need a longer bar, you could have the shorter chains spliced together providing the wear is even on all the chains. Looks like all you need to do is set your saw up for the mill frame and your ready to go. Nice find on all the parts.

The two larger bars that came with the mill are 24". I have 30 and 36" bars as well so that's not an issue. I'll use the 660 so there's no issue with power. I still haven't looked at the chains, been so busy around here and all I want to do it play with my new toys!

I'm not worried about chains, I can file one to a milling angle. What raker depth is usually associated with a milling chain?

Bobs got you covered on the chain [see the stickey at the top ] digital angle box , set it on the chain and o then tooth to raker and measure angle . When i did that chains cut nice now :).
