I have around 300$ to spend. I have husqvarna and stihl as choices. It will be used to cut up firewood and such. I want this to be a good saw that will last and not always give me fits. Any ideas for a saw in my price range??

If you don`t cut very much wood I woud by a used prosaw (If you have a lot to cut By a new one) 50/60ccm from a logger that used it a while and whants a new one.
You can give him a better deal than any dealer.
Just be observant, and browse this site for bying tips and you can get off with a good deal.

saw

Be VERY careful buying a used saw. Pros in the states buy them to use daily. The typical homeowner will use a saw about 30 days a year if he cuts 20 cord of firewood.

Check out a MS250 or a 290. See which one will meet your power and weight need. They are both reliable saws for the money.

If you look at ebay, watch what your doing you'll be fine. There are tons of saws from one owner. Watch for the guys selling them every week. There the ones doing the rebuilds. I know a user by the name of Iowagoosehunter when I sent him an email that I wanted to mod the saw he never replied. Why becouse he redoes junkers. And Why wouldn't he.

go to Jeff's site he has a 260 there "scroll down" $325. I know he's on the money and won't let junk out the door. More than likely it will be a good buy.

I would take a good look at the Stihl ms250 or the husky 350 with 16'' bars, either one should work well for you. Stay away from used saws unless you know the owner as most loggers beat the he11 out of their saws.

I'd stay away from that goosehunter(from-iowa) . He inflates the prices of his items by bidding on his items himself with another ID or having his friends bid on them.

Jacob,
How do you know that? I did notice his saws seem to go for more than others. Later, Roger.

heres my choices help me pick, stihl ms250-280$; ms290-325$; ms250c-319$ husky 350-299$, 55-349$

See?  Husky is higher-priced than Stihl.

That's a tough choice, really.  I'd lean toward either the MS250 or MS290 of the saws listed.  But that's just because they're less expensive for the same (or better) amount of saw and I prefer the way Stihl does the little things such as the chain tensioner and the large bar nuts.

We sell the 353 with a 18" bar and chain for $339.95.

When I got my 350, it was between it and the 029 because they were the same price. The 029 had a little more power but had a fair amount more weight. If I remember right it was 2-3- pounds more, at least according to the literature. I like my 350.
