and thought it was a pretty nice saw. Comparable power to a 372, but with more grunt, and very smooth. The weight was noticable over a 372 though and it kind of sounds funny when compared to a 372 at full cry. Other than that it isnt the POS many have made it out to be.

I have moded 2 of them Ben. Muffler remains stock but port-timing is altered. They out-perform a stock 372. They are very smooth like you say.

Simon, What effect does porting have on charge stratification? I would think that it would interfere with how the buffer charge is is formed between the exhaust and fuel/air charges.

It is balanced if you change port time-area equally based on the pressure gradients. I alter port height only, not width. This is another model where the cylinder base gasket can be discarded. This machine does not have a quantum leap in performance like the 372 and 385. I am getting results in the 10-12% range for peak BHP improvements, this of course causes a fuel consumption increase that mirrors this. I am still in the larval-stages of modifications compared to the aforementioned models. There are many complex events occuring 200 times a second with this saw. As you are aware, any small change has serious ramifications to volumetric efficiency. Cheers.

372xp = 14.75 lbs 5.4hp
575xp = 14.90 lbs 5.4hp
The 575 weighs according to Husky 14.9 lbs. and the 372 was advertised at 13.9 I believe. 1 lb is significant on a unit that weighs less than 20 lbs. and is viewed by the consumer as a step backwards.

Sho' Nuff, The 575 is one fine machine. Haven't I been hinting at this? Sure it's "different" than the 372. I can remember when dynamite could be purchased at the local feed store. Times are changing and we must change with em' or fall by the wayside.

Shoving down our throats............YES!!!

Hinting..............NO!!!

Normally I would agree...as long as the change is a positive one.......IMO the jury is still out on this one.

OK, I have to ask. whay does rah always yell?!!!!!!
It's not 6 exclaimation points, it's always THREE!!!
:blob2:
Rich has done the 3 exclaimation points thing for so many years that I'm not sure he could type without adding them. He doesn't mean to yell, he just doesn't realize he's yelling. :laugh:

People complain about weight ?You guys can feel the difference in weight ?Correct me if I wrong , but that amount of weight is nothing.
Your weight statement for the 372xp is way off as far as I know.
I have seen that number stated before, and it probably originates from Madsens website. The problem is that the 14.75 lbs is the weight of a spesial version with tall air filter+cover, full wrap handle, two falling dogs and probably more.
The adverticed weight is an optimistic 13.4 lbs, the latest test report from DLG/KWF states that the real weight is 14.1 lbs.

I reality the 575 weighs around 1lb more. A significant weight gain on a machine that weighs less than 20 lbs. More detrimental, however is that the added weight of this new generation of saw is seen as a step backwards.

Yes, one could say about 15 to 20 years back. :cry:

The weight and power specs match those of the Jred 2077 from around 1990, and maybe even those of the older Partner P7700 (the first saw with "Air Injection").

Hey Ben,
How did you like the new handle on the 575? The front handle is fatter and also the throttle trigger is larger too.

I weighed my 55 Rancher on my digital fish scales and it was 16.1 lbs.
20" bar
