It has just been confirmed that BMW has bought the Husqvarana motorcycle brand outright.

The deal was signed with Husqvarna boss Claudio Castiglioni yesterday, (Thursday July 19), and will be officially announced shortly. The deal sees BMW buy the brand, production facilities and take charge of all the staff. No price will be announced for the deal for several weeks.

BMW has told MCN that Husqvarna will be run as a seperate brand, in the same way as it runs the Mini car marque.

More details will follow shortly.

Husqvarna motorcycles has nothing to do with Husqvarna AB, the company producing saws and related products. Husqvarna motorcycles is an italian company. BUT, if BMW turns Husqvarna motorcycles into a more well-known brand (outside the racing circuit) it can only be a good thing for the saws as well I reckon.
