I started my tree business. I am looking for effective ways to advertise that would help with our credibility, versus the "rednecks with a chainsaw" that seems to happen in the region of North Carolina that I live in. Any ideas that you use, I am open to any ideas. thanks for your time. :jawdrop:

Word of mouth by contractors, real estate people, nurseries etc. Take as many small jobs as possible and brush jobs and from there it grows. Do every and any job that comes your way. The bigger ones will follow when the storms hit. They will remember your name but be ready for the barage of calls. Also, ALWAYS call back and make the appearance. Even if you don't get this job, you may get a call on a job later.

Assuming you are a legit company and a cert. arborist, remember trees are a liability and propery managers have a built in budget for tree care. Shopping centers, apartment complexes, HOA's and golf courses have built in tree budgets. Ask for an invitation to bid and inventory the trees and put them on a tree care maintenance program. Don't wait for them to come to you.

Maybe a creditbility brochure. Tri fold, Biz info, services offered, Insurance, licenses some customer testimonies, personal stuff etc... you get the idea.

1. Clean trucks with permanent, professional signs. Magnetic signs scream "I will take this sign off and run if I need to". Put some clean advertising on more than just a 12" x 24" sign on the door. Kinko's will take your design, and print it up on adhesive vinyl signs that you can attach yourself. MUCH cheaper than having some sign company do everything for you. Try to store the tools systematically, rather than dumped all over the logs & brush.

2. Uniforms on the employees, even if it is only matching t-shirts. Really cool if you can get your guys to wear hard hats with company logo's. Your customers will be fooled into thinking they are well trained professionals.

3. Business cards in every truck, in every employees hands, at all times. A person that inquires while you are on a jobsite is the best lead you will ever get: make a good impression!
Cheap business cards are a turn-off. Make sure that your card is neater, cleaner, and printed on better paper than your competition. People will notice. Make sure that the back side of the card has room to scribble in a bid.

versus the "rednecks with a chainsaw"????...where did you come from?..maybe they started this business before you climbed out of your high chair..I live near the the Asheville area of WNC and I have climbed for every half ass company around and if you want to work around people in this town that #### don't fly!!!!advertise? it really doesnt matter when you call other's "redneck's" with chainsaws when they know homeowner's that live in the same town..word of mouth. Do a good job redneck or not..maybe if a
job got to big for the "REDNECK" then he might call you for help??

Quality work and networking and you will never have to advertise. Get in with local clubs, associations, equipment suppliers, etc. Get your name out there and the work will come to you. Granted I do not do tree work full time just on the weekends but I am booked through December all from referrals.

As stated above. None of our trucks have logos on them. Its mostly professionalism, and job well done. Its how the yard looks after your job is done that will send all the neighbors and friends running your way... make sure to keep plenty of Buss Cards on hand.

Good Luck!
