Friend of mine gave me this old Mac to clean up and try to get running. Probably the oldest saw I have worked on. Checked chain saw site (thanks for being there) and I think its a Model 47. Circa 1953, engine turns and has compression Seems to be all there, but the metal casting that holds the fuel tank is cracked on the engine side. Fuel tank is solid. Do not know a lot about Macs so not sure if I will even tackle this monster

Heavy duty judy

Just looked it up.Made from 53 to 56 ,4.7 cu in 30 lbs, rotary valve, carb. that I have never seen before

I freed up the pull cord and put some 2 cycle in the cylinder to give it a few pulls. Sort of felt like I was trying to pull my truck up a hill with a tow rope. :) Has spark so I will start checking out carb and maybe this thing will run. Same friend gave me this big old Homelite 1130G to play with. Cleaned it up, new plug, fresh mix and after about 15 pulls it coughed alive. Thing was loud with the muffs on. I had heard somewhere that every brand saw has their own smell and sound and this one was Old style Homelite all the way. ;)

I don't pull on them any more.I have a squeeze bottle.with fuel in it,and I just prime them through the carb, saves my arm. :)

I would say the saw is the 4-30A model. Look at the hump on the gas tank.
If the serial number is gone from the area just below the fuel bowl, on the left side of the saw frame then a check of the cylinder would be another way to tell.
Either model is a good one to have in your collection. Unfortunately there are no diaphragms available for the carb if they are shot.

Today I traded a half sack of Molson Canadian for a Muckaluck. Good trade.
It looks like a geardrive and in good shape. Does anyone know the model?
Thanks,
John

Something like 33,35 would be my guess. I belive it is a gear drive. There is a lot of attachment for it to.
I have Super 33, introduced 1954
