Hello to all. A friend of mine needs and ignition coil for a 10 HP Tecumseh, model HH100 engine. It's my understanding from another site that the coil is no longer available. Does anyone know this for sure or is there any other way to adapt another ignition coil to this engine. The coil on the engine has a magnetic pick up as part on the coil. Using an ohm meter across the primary winding I get a reading when hooked up one way and when the leads are reversed, no reading. Acts like the diodes, etc are working OK for the primary side. I get no continuity across the secondary winding. He says the engine will start and run untill it gets heated up. Then starts breaking up and loosing power. I don't know if another coil could be substituted along with say an atom moduel to take advantage of the original flywhee. There is an alternator assembley with rectifier for the lighting system, inside the flywheel. He and I have gone through the fuel system and all is clean and carb is set to specifications. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks. Lewis.

How old is this engine? I was talking to a guy I work with about Kohlers early attemt at electronic ignition. He swears there is a kit to convert back to points.

Ignition Parts needed:

Hi Paul. The tecumseh engine, that my friend, needs the parts for, he says is about 10 years old. The Model number is: HH100, S/N is: 115255H, Type number is: 1226E. OK, Scottr on AS sent me a PM stating that there was a ignition moduel on Ebay for that engine. Also I want to check and see if my friend has properly adjusted the valve clearance on that engine. Just called him and he says he's never checked the valve cleaarance. So hopefully today he will before we go too much farther in persuing a moduel. I'll let you know what we find out. Thanks. Lewis.

Ignition Moduel for HH100:

To everyone. Got a reply back from: [email protected] and they apparently have the part for the HH100 Tecumseh engine with the S/N and type # listed in the above thread. Part # is: TEC-610906. List is: $111.89 and selling for $89.95 + shipping. I read on another site where the parts were no longer available but guess they may still be. Hope this info helps if someone needs an ignition moduel for their engine. Take care. Lewis.

To stumpman:

Hi stupmman, I believe the owner of the engine checked with our local NAPA store and they were of no help. I'll call them with the number I have from Outdoordistributors and see if that will get some results. The engine runs fine cold, but when it heats up it starts to break up and lose power. We still have to check the valve clearances. Guess he's going to truck the yard tractor, the engine is on, over to me for further checking. Thanks for the NAPA suggestion. Lewis.
