My brother got a Farm Boss saw awhile back. It had a tree dropped on it and it leaks gas when you turn it on it's right side. He hasn't really got into it to see what is broke or cracked. I'm guessing it is an 041 but can't tell for sure. The numbers are scratched off and it looks like a 1 at the end of the number. It probably hasn't had too much use by looking at the saw but from what I've read parts are high for this saw. What is the most money he should tie up in this saw? I don't know how old it is but the serial # is 4945794.

The last 041 Farm Boss was made in 1986 so yup its old. How much is it worth, not a whole lot, especailly if it has a crack in the gas tank. No more than a 100 bucks and that pushing it to the limit. Neat old saw though, I want to get me one in good shape just to say I have one. The 041 is considered a classic now by many...............

The numbers are scratched off, like in "stolen" scratched off??? Numbers don't get scratched off in normal service.

I wouldn't want that saw in my garage.

Post a picture... It's worth a 1000 posts...

The numbers are worn off that identifies the model. I don't have a digital camera (yeah, I'm still stuck in the stone age) but I'll try to find one and post a picture. The last one was made in 1986? Wow, that is an antique lol. I'll pass the news on to him and let him decide what to do with it. Thanks for the info guys.
