insect destroying ash tree species

Where I live up here there is migration of an insect that attacks ash trees and is really spreading there is talk of areas being quaranteened where this is happening and the wood harvested is not allowed to leave the area. Does anybody know more about this problem, I would like more info please.

I have a small farm in Hardy Co West Virginia and live in MD. I usually bring home a cord of pure Oak firewood each time I go up. I've been afraid to bring home any for crossing the Co lines. Think I'll google WV Ash Borer amd see what comes up, Joe.
 
That's sad to hear. Only one county in WV is affected as of the the time the notice was posted on the internet, and only 2 counties in MD. I have a couple 50 to 60 footers in my side yard, I'd hate to loose them, Joe.
 
Nobody has mentioned the name: Emerald Ash Borer. There is a long thread at the top of the Plant Health section...

There are some promising treatments for indivicual trees, but you better break out the wallet...
