hey,
can somebody give me a rundown on insurance? How much coverage is enough? What should i look at spending on an annual basis? What insurance companies offer tree removal and trimming coverage and what are some of the better choices?
Want to get probably a half mil, from what i've been told by others, since i do not attempt anything that is even remotely risky.
thanks for any input!

I have mine through Western World. All I do is grind stumps, but I'm classed as tree service b/c there isn't a category for just stump grinding.

I pay $1850/year. That's based on part time, with no employees. 1 million coverage. I called 3 local agents, & they all had similar rates.

I just met a guy last week that said he has Erie Insurance. The #'s he gave me was unbelievably cheap. Like $260 a year...a year!! That's for 3 million, full time w/3 employees. He's a full blown tree service.

I called, but they don't write in La.

I actually just picked up my Gen. Lib. last week. Very little "restriction" on what is covered. Pretty much they told me the only thing I CANT do is cut down trees near railroad tracks and ROWs. :)

I work on the side, for myself, no employees, not insuring any vehicles/equipment. 500k/1mil insurance, $250 deductible, was $860 a year. Found another place that only wanted about $500 for the year, but their deductible was $4500..........no thanks.

My general lib is 640.00 a year 1 mil single occurance 2mil aggregate. The killer is workmans comp 1350.00 a year and 580.00 for my truck it adds up quick but don't go without it.:chainsaw:
