To sit for the ISA "Certified Tree Workers Climbing Specialists" exam, you need a minimum 18 months of climbing experience. Anyone know how the ISA might evaluate part-time experience with respect to this requirement?

I've only been climbing for a year, but I'd like to know if I'll ever qualify to take this exam.

Thx,
T.

You can call the ISA and tell them about your experience, they will tell you if you have enough to take the test. If you have been climbing for a solid year and working as a climbers assistant / groundman part-time a year prior you will be fine taking the test in my opinion. Good luck.

Tom, I know a guy who sat for the exam fresh out of college because the sales rep wants ISA arborists on board so he lied for him. I wouldnt so much much worry about the time in. ISA is a business like any other and they WANT your money. You can get in. I think you should focus more on the 'passing' than the 'sitting'. Learn those 12 domains and learn em good. Taking the exam for the second time can be a real hassle. Oh yeah, and learn those trees. The myriad difference between Platinus occidentalis and Platinus acerfolia can fail you.
