So its about that time actually im late. When i started at 19yo i said i wanted to be certified by 25 which was in april:msp_unsure: So been talking about it lately and the boss overheard, "i got the study guide ill bring it in tomorrow" Cool right? So he brings in the book the next day and says he seen that the test is on feb 26th for our area. Now ive work for 2 CA's and ive always asked a ton of questions and did my own research so i have a good base of knowledge, but idk if ill be ready in a month. Also when i got home and started checking the book out i remember that hes been certified for a while so i checked the date and it was printed in 2001....Do you think the test material changed since then i mean i has been a decade I think i need a new edition.

They have upgraded the study guide, there is no more tree ID section so that eliminates any concern! I thought when I took the test that it was gonna be some difficult, involved test? It was`nt...!

As a matter of fact I found the test a little to easy & the credential obtainable by those in the lowes nursery section is dis heartening, You wont have a problem!!!! the sections I thought were difficult & only because of it being a boring read was the tree & soil relationships & fertilization sections

I really didnt understand why I even had to be tested on the Fert part......especially when I hold a herb/pest license, but it is what it is, again....you`ll be fine & no doubt will pass & even if you dont you will get another crack at it......... im sure you do fine, the test is fairly simple!

good luck!

LXT..............

no more tree ID do like i did get the CD AND BOOK play the CD OVER AND OVER so even when you talk in your sleep your saying word like auxin, gibberellins, acidic acid zzzzzzzzz

I was really disappointed when I saw how easy it is to pass. Took some of the charm out of getting it. I have sense let it expire(didn't pay my dues) But guess I should retake it again. You'll do fine if you just read the workbook and having worked around other arborist.
Its a lot more impressive to the general public then it is in reality. Good marketing by ISA.

Its quite disgusting to see a CA that don't know nothing. Don't know why they took the ID part out. I think the hard part is paying for it. Read the books, get out in the field, get to know the job then you say " Certified Arborist? We don't need no Certified Arborist. I wish it wasn't like that but it is.

International Society of Arboriculture, they dont give the studie guide away i think its 95 bucks, its and all other isa books are cheaper at sherrilltree.com because when yyou buy them off isa you get ceu's with them, im signed up to take the test in april, i have know idea if im ready or not, going thru the studie guide feels like review to me, but i havent had any formal instuction on it in a long time

ya the guide is pretty steep, that's why I was hoping someone might have a used one they're willing to part with. good luck on the exam!

thanks, then of course the $250 to take the test and $200 every 3 years and what ever you have to pay for to get your 30 ceus every 3 years, isa cert badge on my website priceless lol

I've got one around here somewhere, unopened.

I was a CA from 1991 to 2008 but I've dropped it now. I picked up a new study quide a few years back for a friend who was interested but they lost interest before cracking the guide!

pm sent

Applied to take the test yesterday along with a credit card# and haven't heard anything back yet. Does it normally take a few days to get a reply from ISA?
