maybe he said to relieve yourself in the head

Yes, now I remember, he said, "grasshoper prune your mind of thoughts of control, be not like AS mods, live for your passion and purpose with trees."

Now I remember, Thanks Big John,

Jack

X-mas lights

i have just finished up 2 jobs hanging Xmas lights in trees one in a doug fir the other in a big Deador. for 45.00 per hour i will hang fresh road kill in trees
if thats what the holiday calls for and the client wants

I removed a star from the top of a hemlock once. A million dollars? That makes my mouth water. I have been missing out on a great opportunity.

Sounds like you were underpaid........I'd send them a bill for another $999,985.00......When they ask why they owe you tell them you read about it on the internet.........it must be true.:)

Yesteday morning we found out that we've done $1,013,000 in Christmas Decor so far. Sales are still coming in too. The jobs that have come in lately are mostly four digit jobs too.

Our Decor season started in mid-October. We have many crews in the field doing lighting.

Only a tiny fraction of my time is spent in Decor. My responsibilities are mainly trim/remove trees.

No pics, except daytimes which don't show anything, or costs, that's proprietory information :0.

We usually do about 10-15 tree light jobs a year, it can be a PITA, as it is more of an art and astetic thing. With that being said, it is a good opportunity to meet new potential customers for tree planting/pruning/removal.

or costs, that's proprietory information :0.

Do you let the customer know the cost? Then I guess it's rather public info.

"yes sir we'll do it tomorrow"

"Just leave the amount blank, we'll fill it in" "and remember to not check your statement".

"If our prices got out then other people might know what we charge.......and it's a secret". :p

X,

You can be kind of a nit sometimes. Do you practice being a smart-mouth? When I'm told not to discuss costs because that's proprietory I follow instructions. How good are you at following directions? It seems like I've heard you clacking about employees who can't follow directions. I'm not one of those employees.

Doing Decor work fills in a slower time of year. It helps the company provide a full year of full-time work for our employees. Without this we'd loose people who couldn't afford unpaid leave or unemployment. It's not a big profit center but there are other ways of measuring values.

If you want to know what the company charges, give a call for an estimate. I know that we can a salesman out on Monday and the job installed next week in plenty of time for Christmas.

I work for Swingle Tree, Lawn and Christmas Decor in Denver. The company has been doing Decor work for over six years so this has been a few years in the making.

First of all my sarcasm comes naturally......even when I don't necessarily intend it to. While I can understand the theory, in reality Swingle is only kidding themselves. In a service industry like ours, dealing with the public you can only keep pricing a secret for a very short time. Salemen will quit, retire or be fired. They will run their mouths. The Smiths talk to the Jones talk to the Dunlaps, etc. I wasn't asking you to sacrifice your corporate dedication. I never thought you were serious.

Now, reach down and untwist.....carefully....make sure you're turning in the right direction.
