I understand that a survey recently went out to a random sample of members. Past surveys got a low % of responses. It is really important that working arborists take the time to fill this out, or the feedback, and subsequent policy and program decisions, may be skewed toward members who do not work in the field.

Thank You!

Members who do not work in the field, what? I thought ISA guys worked in trees, the ones that work that is, the others, well, I can't say much good about them so I'll leave that alone, but work in the fields? Those would be farmers or something......

I got one. If I am thinking of the correct survey, I think there was a "full" version and "abreviated" version. I had the second. I spent less time doing that than I spend here and a college football forum most evenings...

While you have a good point that a desk jocky may well have more time to for paperwork, I think the hope is that those who care about the direction of the Society will take the time to complete it.

JPS,every member got one last year. I think the return rate was <10%.

Sad...I am sure time is a barrier, but like I said, I don't remember it taking long. I have 2 guesses why people don't fill it out: (1) Maybe people like the direction, so they don't take the time (2) People don't think their voice matters.

When you consider that less than 30% of the adult population decides who governs our country (non-presidential elections that "just" put Senators and US Reps in place), is it any surprise that tree guys don't take time to fill out a member survey that is supposed to help set direction of a professional society.

How does it come? I'm a life member, so if it comes with the dues mailing it gets circular filed.

Is there an online version? Like mentioned above, I too spend a lot of my free time on the computer; when my nose is not buried in a book.
