BTW, why no more Stihls?
Over priced, 15 year old designs, carb adjustment issues, and ergonomics. In short the stihl pro saw designs are long in the tooth and not worth the money IMO. BTW my 7900 cost about the same as a 440 from my stihl dealer, which has very good prices.

B.....
Hope you enjoy the saw, let me know what you think of it. Will you be running a 24inch bar? Happy sawing..........Wade

I'm not trying to make a good saw look bad. Just askin around about any experiences from anyone with Dolmers. I was told by a fella that there was some problems with the bearings on the mag side of the crank. If someone has any experience with this not being the case I would love to know because I'll buy 2 of them

Was talking to my Stihl rep, said the bottom end and casing of the older 046's were lacking and the newer ones are beefed up.

I don't know this firsthand. I got it from a dealer who sells these saws and has built saws for the last 25+years. So that said, aside from the guys he's selling them to I don't know about the oil issue. I've been mixing oil and gas for 20 +years for 2 strokes and it ain't that difficult

Hey Ben

I bet that Dolmar 7900 looks similar to this one...

You better check out your saw. I think the bearing is loose on the mag side. Somebody told me they go bad on all Dolmar saws.

I am just trying to increase my knowledge of these saws and their problems before I drop the money on one. But if you want to make me look like an idiot for doing so I know where I won't have a saw built or buy one of those Dolmers.

New Dolmar Rep in MI

Hey Ben we have a new Dolmar rep her ein MI now. Name is Dave from up near reed city. From what he says he has been in the saw biz since the 70's and more than just one brand. Moved back down to the lower and started up with Dolmar. He may have emailed you already, got my name off here.

Highmark, Please don't take offense at Dan's jest. We tease each other a lot on this board. Dan consistently behaves like a gentleman and has an excellent reputation. I'm confident that his crack about the bearings wasn't intended to belittle you.-We make fun of erroneus info, That doesn't mean we don't respect the one who brought it up.

By the way, I'm burning up down here in Canon City (upper 80s still!). are you freezing your buns off in those frosty Leadville mornings?

Sorry if I offended you with that post. I was only joking about that one.
I was going to make a post about the bearing fit on those saws but Saw Man was one step ahead of me.
If you are serious about getting two PP7900s at a time, email me and I will give you a good price on a pair.

Thanks for the kind words.
I could use some of your heat up this way. Please send some up here.
