I didn't know that Jonsered made a chain break for there 52E's? I got a 52 and want to put a break on, then I could use it on the job. What do I need? Does the band go between the case and drum or does it have a longer crank to put the drum facing out to have the band on the cover?

Yep.... well.... they did, but it's nothing like a modern brake. It was a dealer installed option on all the old true Jonsereds except the 521E which came stock with it. They were a poor excuse..... no band.... just an inch wide "shoe" that traveled in the slot you see directly above the crankshaft center, clutch side. The original setup also had an ign component that when activated shut the saw down....... it was pretty pitiful...... and the ign side got tossed quickly if you were in a brush pile and the saw kept having to be restarted.... so then you had just a 1" shoe to engage the clutch drum.... poor rig... novelty, collector item at best.

Oh, wow. Sounds like a fail for Jonsered. I now see why there's none of them around. Thanks for your input, now know what I'm not doin now.
