We are not sure what the cultivar is but most likely it is grafted. I don't believe this growth has been there that long. A couple of small limbs have died but the rest of the tree looks fine. From the looks of this fungi it sure looks like the whole tree is in trouble. This tree was transplanted here when we moved in 2002 and has grown quited a bit in the last seven years.
