Hey there,

Does anyone know what size screws are needed to hold the John Deere CS81 starter cover in ? The JD parts list doesn't mention the size. I stupidly misplaced them and don't seem to have any screws handy that fit.

Thanks !

THis is reminding me... a few years back I bought the JD service manual. No idea what the chances are I'll be able to find the dang thing. The JD IPL only shows that screw as "screw". Others are listed with the specs. Darn.

Found the technical/service manual - would have bet my life against that.. No information on the screw dimensions though.

4 or 5mm...like most current saws out there.

Probably 20 mm long.

Go to your hardware store and match them up.

I ended up buying a big box of metric cap screws to match up - figured I could always use them anyways, and local big box did not want me to bring my saw in.:nofunny:

The saw needed M5 screws, M5x12 IIRC.

Thanks !terry

If it is same as Efco 181, part # is 097000092AR.
Same number shows for the 156 that I have in stock. Pulled it off and its 5mm x 14mm with combo 8mm hex and slot flanged head.
