Well I seen on here someone brought up a question about a JD 50. How good was the bigger cousins to this one? I have a 60V, and a 80EV. Both have compression releases, both got 20 " bars. I am thinking of selling the 60 and keep the 80 for a falling saw. Oh also got a little 30 too.
Would like any info on them and if someone wants make me a offer on the 60 its a running demon and nice shape too.

That 80 EV is a really fine saw design. However, newer saws will outcut it. The 80EV was part of one the Echo generations of John Deere saws. THe instant oil adjustment was cool! The saw has lots of torque and cuts well. What it doesnot have is light weight or high rpms. A similar displacement saw from the last few years production will weigh less and move the chain faster. I sold the 80EV I picked up since, as a pro I feel the need for a better power to weight ratio and faster cut times for day to day use. If I were part timing and owned an 80EV I wouldn't hurry to replace it.
