Can anyone give me a quick idea about the performance of this saw. I have a 49sp and am wondering how they would compare to each other. What bar size would you recommend??

The 2050 will cut faster than the 49sp, though the 49 is a good saw. Dont go more than a 20" bar, and optimum perf will come from a 16-18" bar
