I've got a 70e that has the typical ignition problems. The saw came with 4 primary coils and 2 secondary coils and I'm working through them seeing if any are good. If I can't get it going I was wondering about an ignition modification since those SEM units are pretty much impossible to find. I've heard talk of being able to put points on it and convert the ignition. My questions are:
1:Is this really possible, and if so, has anyone ever done it (or know anyone who has) or have advice on how to do it?
2: Is it possible to use other electric ignition systems in this saw? I know there can be issues with bolt-up patterns...
