I have seceral older Jonsered chain saw that the bottom of saw case has worn through on oil tank. I have tried several differant materials to patch but don't last. These saws run super but leak oil. Has anyone found something to patch tank with. Thanks

JB weld is the best stuff I've found for things like this. A friend of mine calls it "farmer bolts in a tube"

To Stumpman: oil tank repair.

I agree with sedanman, JB weld is great stuff. You want to be sure the area you are patching is perfectly clean and roughed up with some course sandpaper. so the JB weld will bond to the housing. I would clean, sand, reclean the area. I would also make an aluminum patch of some sort to cover the area once the JB weld is applied. Put enough JB weld on then press the aluminum patch in place so that the JB weld comes out around the side of the patch once it's presses in place. Be sure you let it cure, the proper amount of time. I've used the stuff and it works great. To aid in the curing, you can put a light bub near the patch to help speed up the curing process. Good Luck. Lewis.

Depening on how much you like this saw, you could either buy replacement tank parts (George Blake might have some) or have it TIG welded.
