Don't Know, Maybe It has not been updated in a while.
What saw are you talking about?

It may not be worth the investment. Kinda like putting Mobil 1 in a F*rd truck.:monkey: :monkey: :monkey:

2165 says it in the manual that synthetic oil is not recommended.the manual has a 2005 date on the back.
The 2006 manual for my 2159 does not make any mention of synthetic oil. Thats all I have been feeding it anyway. But it does say not to use TCW rated oils for outboards but that is a no brainer.

Ok lets see,
A 2165 has a double ring system on the piston also the cylinder is a mahle surface type.

Hmmm, unless I'm wrong maybe its because Jonsered does not have a synthetic 2 stroke gas mix. Therefore Jonsered is not going to recommended synthetics.

A 2165 is made as fine as any other Pro saw.
So This Manual is going to recommend you break your saw in with Jonsered turbo High preformance 2 - cycle mix.
Then if you feel the need to use synthetic oil. Buy the Moible Brand.

Well, Husqvarna does not make any either, but they can buy and brand. And they can also say that Jonsered is not allowed to buy and brand fully synthetic oil... I'm not saying it is so, but it could be that way.

I've checked in the Swedish manual for a CS2165 from 2004-04, and it does not mention anything about synthetic oils an any way. Not propagating, not forbidding. Odd.

For what it's worth, I believe Spike has some info on this issue...he usually weighs in on the Jonsered threads, so if he doesn't, someone PM him.

I looked up their latest online 2165 manual, here. I can't see any warning against synth mix oil - only against vaste oil as bar oil.......

What it really says.........

The oil recomendations are not actually in the operators manual that is printed in Sweden. They are on the back of the blue warranty sheet that is inserted by Tilton Equipment here in the US. They began inserting this sheet in February 2006.

It says........

"Use 2 cycle engine oil which meets Global specifications #ISO E-GD/ISO L-EGD and JASO-FC. Jonsered 2 cycle oil meets these specifications and comes with stabilizer already added for an increased storage life of gas and oil mixtures.

We strongly advise that you avoid alternative oils that do not meet these specifications, as well as generic brand oils and synthetic oils. Always be sure to follow the mixing ratio instructions on the particular oil bottle."

Obviously the Husky or Stihl synthetic blends would be fine. What they are being cautious of are some of the oils out there that may not have been blended with 13,500RPM chain saw use in mind. Also, from a warranty standpoint, companies aren't necessarily looking for an "out" in the case of a failure, but an oil that doesn't meet specs is another variable that adds an element of doubt as to what happened.
