Jonsereds 621 gas tank lining

I have an early 80's Jonsereds 621 with very little use. I bent the bar about 13 years ago and haven't used it since. I dug it out of the shed recently and took it apart, cleaned it up, checked all hoses, filters, bearings, etc etc, and put a new bar on it.

Fired on third pull. Runs great.

When I removed the gas line and filter, I noticed that there was some rubbery debris in the tank. On closer look, it appears that the tank was lined with a rubber like coating that is now shredded and coming off in great big sheets.

Anybody else experience this?

Oh yeah......they did that for a few years and it always fails and creates a mess eventually.
