A buddy of mine brought me his father-in-laws chainsaw to work on. Jonsereds 70E. Overall very clean saw, you can tell it's been used very little. What are the initial hi-lo adjustments? 1 1/4 out on both hi and low screws? Way it is now, it idles real fast and dies out when you give it throttle. I'm right in thinking idle speed should be adjusted to where the chain doesn't move, right? Right now the chain is moving a good speed just sitting there idling. And like I saw, when you hit the throttle it screams for a little bit and then dies down on it's own. Thanks for the help guys, love this website!

Looks like a fuel problem.Adj should between 1 @1 1/4.Looks like your carb needs to be cleaned.Check also your fuel filter in the tank if OK.If she has been long stopped, check also condition of fuel hose if not "softened" by gas.The second area to look would be if no air leak, but begin by carb, filter and hose. The chain shouldn't turn saw idling.

You might also try to richen(turn out) the high speed screw. Just for fun try them both at 1 and 3/4 turns out. If the throttle response is better start turning the idle speed down until the chain stops.
