Dan, for the price (so far 25 pounds), I say go for it. BTW the butchered spelling has probably stopped others from seeing the listing, hence no bids. If you use work gloves, and/or you have large hands, you would probably end up removing the handguard anyway (very little room between the handle and the handguard). Parts are hard to find, but not impossible.

It is heavy and slow compared to modern saws, but for the money, why not give it a try? What would a more modern 80cc saw cost?

It looks more as a 62 than 80..........

Get better pic's first. Then bis as much as you think it is worth.

Thanks guys, I have asked him for more/better pics already. I'd like to see the whole thing 1st.

Mange, I see what you mean the one in the pic doesn't seem to sport the metal plug cover that the 80 on Mike's site does. Any other obvious differences I can look for? If it is a 62 it's even older and not of the same interest to me at 56 cc.

Dan

The easiest way to tell them apart based on a picture is to look at the air filter cover at the rear of the saw.
On the 80 it is fully circular, on the 62 (and the 621) the circle is flat at the bottom.
The missing plug cover does not mean anything, as they were easily lost, nor does the missing hand guard.

The picture is really bad, but I think I can make out four rows of equally large holes in the sheet metal circular cover on the flywheel side. This lead me to believe that it most likely is a model 80, but I am not sure.

Ask for a picture taken from behind, shoving the shape of the filter cover.

Thanks Chris, nice of you to notice!

Actually I thought the bumperspike and muffler did not look right, so I shouted out a warning, but I have been wrong before, from this pic it not easy to see what it really is.
I have the same bumper spikes on my 62, and on George's 80 it is not the same.
This could mean nothing, but ........................

Well the guy never got back to me with more photos or answers to my questions, so if it is a turkey, it's someone elses turkey now!

If it was a good one, then not a bad price at £31 for an 80cc saw.
