I needed a new clutch for my 630. I bought one on eBay, found out the thread diameter in the clutch was bigger than the end of the crank. Is there some insert to allow proper turning on of the clutch or do I seek another with the correct hole diameter? The "wrong" clutch had a different spring configuration, also seemed to have a larger surface area for contact with the inside of the drum. Sound familiar?

630

some of the older jonsered saws,(one of mine included)had a course thread for the clutch to screw on to the crank. the later model saws went to a fine thread. I heard there was a problem with some saws breaking the crank off where the clutch screws on on the course thread models and that going to the fine threads stoped the problem. I'm sure some one here knows for sure. I've never heard of an adaptor to mount the clutch. sounds like you might have the wrong clutch. Good luck with your saw. Rick!

Sounds like the age of the different parts have more to do with the problem, than the exact model number (625, 630, 670 and some Husky ones)......

...if so, not too unusual.
