Looks like a wrist killer to me,
here's what you want

Here's an unrelated piece of gear that caught my eye.

I wrote and asked if it would work with half inch rope, and they said it would work just fine. Think I'm gonna get one to replace my figure 8. More rappel options make for more control, less rope hockling (in some configurations) and it just looks cool.

This e-bay item can be bought directly from these folks: http://www.ushba.com/catalog/access.html

The handled ascender picture posted is from:

But it is not for sale. I spoke with these guys on more than one occasion regarding several of their products and they are having trouble with production and various other problems.
Their mommo (sp?) is interesting but requires the rope to be threaded through it.
I am eagerly awaiting the lowering block that is in development.

Personally I agree with the posters opinion that most ascenders are hand breakers.
I like the ISC ascender because of it's total ruggedness so I use it for my floating anchor but Anthron makes an ergonomic version as well as Petzl (I think).
For those long ascents having a soft handle that does'nt bite into your hand at the bottom of the ascender is really important to me.

I've heard good things about Ushba tools but I've never used them. One of the criticisms of the handled ascender is that you will loose just a few inches of ascent each grab because of the camming action. Since it works as a descender too it does pique my interest.
