Kan Du stump grinder

I am considering buying a new stump grinder and am looking at the Kan Du stumper. Has anyone worked with it? I would like to know the cons as well as the pros of it.

Hello;

I have had quite extensive experience with different type of grinders. I have worked with an older individual for over 20 years grinding stumps and one of the grinders he had was a Kan Du.

I too recently bought a new used grinder and a Kan Du was a possibility on my list. However, I decided the machine was too underpowered. It does great on small stumps, but if you get anything medium and larger you will be grinding for a long time. It simply lacks the power to do the job. You would be better off with a machine that is built heavier. The largest cutting wheel possible is always preferred over a smaller, thinner wheel.

There are other machines priced around the same as a Kan Du which I believe are better suited for the job at hand.

Grinders are like chippers, the bigger the better but then one needs to take into account getting into small yards etc.
