I have been trying to decide on selling my Stihl 034 which seems to be in good shape or selling it at a pretty good profit and get a new saw.
I bought this 034 for $150 and put about $70 bucks into it. New air filter, carb kit, fuel line , impulse line, and filter, new chain catcher, new Oregon Powermate rim sprocket kit, & chain sharpen at dealer. I dressed the 20" bar and it seems ok but prob doesn't have a whole lot of life left.
The saw is running pretty well with standard carb settings but the idle speed adjustment "HL" screw seems to be non existent as far as its effect when tuning the saw. I am basically adjusting the saw from the low speed screw and leaving the high speed screw at the standard one turn out.
I only cut a small amount of personal use firewood.
A guy had offered me $350 for the saw but then I have to buy something else for this amount of money. The "something else" would probably suit my needs but obviously not be a pro saw. Thanks for the advice.

Maybe even buying an extra little saw not nnecessarily an professional stihl 210 ore something like that

What carb is on it?

I've had a few I've rebuilt but they still do not work as well as I'd have hoped. I'd throw a little more $ at it and buy a new carb. Definitive Dave sells a 036 Zama for $14. I've bought two from him and it is the one of best starting and running carbs I own.

Keep it you would regret selling it I know many people the regret buying new saws environmental reasons the saws are different iknow even some people that upgrade their old saws to aspen

Is it a super? That's strong money for it of it isn't.

If you found something else that suits you better, for similar money.. no harm in selling it. If you would be buying something on a whim that you haven't had a chance to use... I'd keep it. I think they're one of the better saws Stihl made, and there are still tons of parts (OEM, used, and am) out there for it.

My 034 was the 1st Stihl saw I owned...after I sold it 3 yrs ago...I always regretted it!
I have a 034 in a box right now...and I guy wants it for $200...NOT!!
I see them on Craigslist averaging between $200-250 for 034 non super/mags.
Although $350 is STUPID dough for a non super or mag version...take the $350 and add a few bucks and buy a 044!:chainsaw:

Iif you want to keep it keep it, if you want to sell it sell it, it's only a saw and there are tons of different models in similar power and quality range. Absolutely nothing special.
