Finished a 2 cord batch of hardwood in the kiln this morning. Load and go.
Had to keep 6ft from the wife so she had to load herself
Then we loaded another two cord in the kiln. 1.75 cords (7 of the 8 crates) were air drying for a couple weeks out in the field. The 8th crate was fresh cut yesterday.
I threw on a couple bags of kindling that sat out all winter to keep the main tarp in place.
The boss does a final check.
I insert the probes. This block of wood is from the wet crate, easy to see when you look at the end of the stick.
Then its turn on the kiln and let it heat up.
Over the next 3 days several air dumps will have to be made to remove excess moisture. I expect this load of mostly 16" long maple and birch to take 7-8 days to get down below 30% MC.
