If this has been posted before, sorry. I don't seem to find time to read all the posts even though I would like to. This little trick is probably old hat to most of you guys but I am still surprised at how many "experienced" cutters don't know it. When you get your chain kinked up, don't "chase" the loops round and round the chain in an effort to get it strait, just stick a finger through each loop ( one from each hand, you should only have 2 loops)
and "twist" ( I don't know how else to say it) the chain strait again. Works every time. Hope this helps somebody, I sure was glad it was shown to me.

Perhaps "kinked" is the wrong term. It may be a coloquialism.

django,
Terminology seems to be one of the biggest hurdles on this site. I know what you are talking about but you'll communicate your point more effectively in this case with a diagram. Remember the KISS principle. I lucked out this time I'm usually not that smart.
Thanks for the tip.

Point taken. I'll try to post a photo soon. ( I don't have a dig. cam.
I borrow one.)

I think I know what your talking about, after the chain has riden in the bottom of the tool box for a while (even in the oil bag or coffee can) and you pull it out for use. When you remove one loop you have formed another).I think the newer longer(24"+) 3/8 chains are the champs cause they dont flex like the 92vs will.I have never tried the method you described...yet

He means tangled up? Never had one that took me less than 30 seconds.

Did a wore out 36" stihl chain that was stuffed in a pint size ziplock today.
