Hi Guys, i'm just doing a bit of research on some various knots and I have several obscure ones i'm unable to find any information on. I've posted a list of them below, and i'd be extremely grateful if you have any experience with any of them, if you could post your feedback. I'm particularly interested in pro's and con's, applications, and ideal rope diameters.

Thanks kindly!

Only heard of a couple of those and never used any of them for tree work, at least as far as I know. Where'd you get your list? Knot's I use most commonly are bowline, clove hitch, half hitch, blakes hitch, butterfly, anchor hitch, timber hitch. I've forgotten the name of the friction hitch I use for my eye to eye split tail and we use a knot for a midline loop that we call a tom knot after the guy who showed it to us. Works better than a butterfly as long as we're only loading one end.

Thanks for the reply. Its part of a list of 50 knots i have for a project im working on. The rest are either familiar to me, or easy to track down information on. Im gradually filling in the blanks, however some of these will have to come down to personal testing i think

I recognize a few of them from the Ashley Book of Knots. Especially the Steeplejack knot which I believe is one and the same as the taughtline hitch.

Its not that disimilar. i just checked my images.....i didnt pick up on that before and im guessing it probably performs much like a tautline so that will probably give me enough to go on for that one. thanks

Looks like a lot of the knots on your list are the same or similar to ones we use, just with different names. I'll try to look at them more closely when I get a chance and maybe list the ones that are the same.

girlfriends dad had a boyscout CARD TYPE thing with 2 strings attached ,on the card were a bunch of pretty damn cool knots ,ones i never really seen

sorry, that was for the post above...but thanks to you too :)
