I did alot of research on these and spent some time in european forums. What I gathered was build quality was an issue, most notably the attachment of the lag pads. That was awhile ago though. Just buy some gecko II's.

i bought a pair that didnt make 2 months of fulltime go. the nuts on the outside fell out and the plastic started to go where i set them to the pad itself.
are you a big dude or a little dude. that'll make a big difference for the wear and tear factor. i think i was just too big for them.
almost 400 bones they are, i think.
super light though.

A buddy of mine has the geko's...not sure if the II's or not. I tried them and liked everything except that there was no way to cinch them...the calf strap just wraps around the leg. I like the way my buckingham velcro pads can be cinched down tight. So can you cinch the strap back with the geko II's?

The original geckos have a velcro strap to loop around. The II's put a metal bar on the leg pad, you feed the strap through that and backwards to "cinch" down on it.
